It's been 6 weeks since surgery and I'm feeling great!  The doctor said that I'm officially a 'graduate' and I don't have to come back for another follow up for 4 1/2 months.  This is when he takes the 'after' pictures.  I stopped wearing the binder 4 days ago and I feel like I have some increased swelling, but that is supposed to take at least another 4 months to resolve itself.  So I have to continue to be patient, but the worst is over.  The biggest inconvenience is the numbness in my belly area.  I'm able to get into my jeans, but still not my khaki's, but the jeans are very uncomfortable.  I really think this is due to the numbness.  Believe it or not, it amplifies the rougher fabrics/zippers/buttons.  This is very uncomfortable -- so I think the solution is to just start wearing some of these that fit and just push through.  This is probably the only way to desensitize the area.  My belly button is swollen and I've been instructed to 'massage' it by pressing the fluid out of it several times a day.  I continue to have a lot of pulling and tingling all over the belly area -- I respond by rubbing it..... I'll be glad when this stops. (my husband asked me how many times I 'pet' my new belly!  ha ha!  I told him that we spent $6000 on this new 'pet' so I plan to pet it as often as I want!  :)

My activity level has improved.  I walked a 5K yesterday!  (54 minutes)  I plan to attempt running on the treadmill this week (easing into it)  and then in about 2 weeks I plan to start swimming laps at the local rec center.  However, I'm still not up to par......

Another annoying feature of this new belly is at times I will have an itch and where I feel the itch, it's numb.  So I can't scratch it or find it to scratch it.  Weird huh?  Sometimes I'll find relief by scratching in an area that I can feel..... this is really impossible to describe.  But it's strange and the doc said that this may take years to resolve itself.... argh.... the price we pay huh?

I know I need to post some new pics..... I'll work on that..... thanks for following!  I hope this helps someone who is considering the surgery.... after going through this I would do it all over again......

  1. I find the third paragraph funny. If I were in your situation, I would have that strange feeling too. Haha! It's hard to resolve since your specialist can't explain the reason behind it. But at least, it's just a simple itchy-weirdy problem. ;) Other than that, it's good to know that your tummy tuck procedure went great.

  2. Tummy tuck surgery is often done in conjunction with other surgeries to enhance a patient’s results. These complementary procedures can include liposuction and breast lift, breast augmentation, or breast reduction -- a trend known to some as the “mommy makeover.”

  14. Just had a tummy tuck and breast augmentation three weeks ago this Thursday. I came across your blog because I was so annoyed with this binder and the rash it was giving me. I wanted to see what other people thought about the spanx. My doctor says I can wear them now without the binder. It's feels so weird. I feel all of these strange rumbling feelings as if I was pregnant and the babies is moving. Creeps me out. I'm quite swollen and bigger than I was prior to the TT. That part sucks. The binder limits your wardrobe too. Ready to really see the results. Patience isn't my strong suit. But reading your blog is pretty much spot on to my experience. But I puked from the pain meds. Awful and painful! Thankful to know I'm not crazy in this journey and all that goes along with it. Thank you! :)

    1. Well Christie, I had my TT 3 years ago this month and some of the creepy feeling is still there. There is an area below my belly button about the 4" x 5" that is still numb. Small price to pay for a flat stomach! My scar is almost faded finally. I didn't think it would ever fade to white..... I think you'll be happy with your surgery. I haven't regretted it one day. My doc gave me meds to stave off the nausea (luckily) so I didn't have that problem. I really like the spanx, but it still tends to roll up on me. Some powder may help with the rash..... if the doc says it's ok. So I haven't worn that for a long time. The biggest thing I think I wish I would have done is wear them longer. My belly tends to barrel out some when I'm really relaxed.....Thank you for your comment! Good luck with your recovery!
